Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert newsletter has shared five ways to save a small fortune when shopping on Amazon.
The online marketplace has surged in popularity over the years, now becoming many people’s first port of call when looking for goods due to cheap prices and speedy same-day delivery – and according to Yaguara, the company has 301 million active users worldwide.
And while prices can often be reasonable enough – with all of the limited offers, lightning deals and sporadic sales that the Jeff Bezos-founded company puts on – Martin’s site has shared ways that you can save even more money when shopping on Amazon.
Here, ChronicleLive breaks them down.
1) Shop Amazon Warehouse for better deals
Amazon Warehouse sells returned items at a reduced price, and often the products aren’t faulty but someone has returned them due to a change of heart. The firm also categorise items by condition, so you can choose between ‘acceptable’, ‘good’, ‘very good’ and ‘like new’ depending on what you’re looking for.
2) Amazon Renewed can save you a small fortune
MSE say: “While Warehouse is mostly for current models, Renewed only sells pre-owned tech products that have been tested, refurbished and look like new, such as previous generations from Apple, Samsung and Dell. Refurb models also help the environment, as well as your wallet.”
While stock can often be limited, MSE found an Apple Watch Series 9 for £310 instead of the RRP of £399, Second-Gen AirPods for £69.99 instead of £129, and Soundcore Q20i Headphones for £33 down from £50.
3) Browse the Amazon Outlet for odds and ends
Amazon also has a clearance outlet where it flogs thousands of brand-new surplus stocks which the firm or its sellers are keen to get rid of. While MSE describe it as ‘hit and miss’, you may be able to find exactly what you’re looking for if you regularly refresh and revisit. MSE also say that you should also always check the prices, as some stock may not be discounted.
4) Check past prices with CamelCamelCamel
If you don’t think that you’re getting a good deal despite lucrative sales prices, you can always use the likes of the CamelCamelCamel website which tracks its pricing history.
5) Check MSE’s Super Saver Delivery Tool
MSE say: “Spending £20 to £25 and not got Prime? Check if the Super Saver Delivery Tool saves you cash. Usually Amazon charges for delivery on orders less than £25. If you’re just below it, it can be cheaper to add a small extra item than pay for delivery. The Amazon free delivery tool finds suitable extras for you.”
