Burnley need a new head coach and the best betting sites have taken a look at the contenders for the role.
Despite overseeing the Clarets’ relegation from the Premier League this season, Vincent Kompany is on the verge of being appointed as Bayern Munich’s next boss in an astonishing turn of events.
He is by no means the German outfit’s first choice – they have failed in approaches for the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner – but Kompany looks to have done enough to convince the hierarchy at the Allianz Arena.
His credentials as a German speaker are one of the main reasons he finds himself in this enviable position.
Burnley must now choose a successor as they aim to secure an immediate return to the Premier League next season. Let’s take a look at the market offered by betting apps.
Cooper And Still Are The Early Favourites
Steve Cooper (6/4) and Will Still (7/4) are the two favourites for the job as things stand. It is no surprise to see Cooper right at the top of this list.
He worked wonders in the Championship with Nottingham Forest, then kept them in the Premier League in 2022/23.
Cooper has a reputation for getting the best out of young players (and Burnley have plenty of those), while he may feel the time is right to get back into the game after a few months out.
Still would be more of a risk despite his fine work at Reims in Ligue 1. Burnley are one of several Championship clubs that the 31-year-old is being linked with as he looks set to return to England.

Bellamy And Moyes At Different Ends Of Careers
At first it was widely assumed that Craig Bellamy (2/1) would be a part of Kompany’s coaching team at Bayern, as he was at Anderlecht and Burnley.
But it has now been confirmed that the former Wales international will part company with his former Manchester City team-mate. Bellamy would be a continuity candidate at Turf Moor and he knows the players inside out.
David Moyes (5/2) is at the opposite end of his coaching career. In truth, though, it is difficult to envisage him dropping into the Championship after so long in the Premier League.
Rosenior And Robins Boast Championship Experience
Liam Rosenior was surprisingly sacked as Hull City manager despite only just missing out on the play-offs this season.
The former defender showed promise during his time at the MKM Stadium and he is listed at 3/1 on football betting sites to take over at Burnley.
Mark Robins (4/1) has an even better track record in the Championship, chiefly with Coventry City. It would not at all be surprising if Burnley were to make a move for him.
However, prising Robins away from the Sky Blues, whom he has managed with distinction since 2017, would not be easy.

Wagner And Solskjaer Are Available
David Wagner was relieved of his duties as Norwich City manager after his team fell short in the Championship play-offs.
Could he bounce straight back by landing the Burnley job. Wagner is available at 5/1?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also out of work. He has links to the north west of England and could be tempted by an offer to succeed Kompany at Turf Moor.
However, the former Manchester United manager has been out of work for some time now and he does not appear to be in a hurry to get back in the dugout. Solskjaer is priced at 6/1.
Former England Internationals Among The Outsiders
Michael Carrick was not able to take Middlesbrough into the Premier League last term and, in all likelihood, he will be trying again in 2024/25.
An offer from Burnley would give him pause for thought, with Carrick priced at 13/2 to follow Kompany.
Odds are also available on Frank Lampard (12/1) and Wayne Rooney (16/1).

The latter’s reputation took a major hit during a disastrous stint at Birmingham City, hence why football betting sites view Lampard as the slightly more plausible pick.
