Fashion fans flock to buy ‘flattering’ M&S striped dress

Must read

Dressing for the warmer weather is all about easy-to-wear, throw-on options that will keep you feeling comfortable and looking stylish all day. Marks and Spencer nailed this brief last year when they released the Cotton Rich Striped Midi Knitted Dress and much to many fashion fans’ delight, it’s back in two new colours.

The £35 sleeveless design is available in a monochrome colourway or a cream and mocha mix – both in sizes extra small, medium, large and extra large. Hailed as ‘amazing quality’ by wearers, it’s a similar style to this Karen Millen number but more than £30 cheaper.

Ideal for throwing over a swimsuit while on holiday, it can also be dressed up with heels and a jacket come evening. Better yet, the versatile pick can be worn at the weekend, to work, doing the school-run and everything in between.

The midi-length and regular fit provides a flattering silhouette on all body types and despite being made from cotton knit, it’s a breathable option that has an airy feel. If last year is anything to go by, this Marks and Spencer dress won’t stick around for long in all sizes, so you’ll have to be quick if you want to add it to your warm-weather wardrobe.

Shoppers are already snapping it up in their size and leaving glowing reviews on the M&S website while they’re at it. One person said: “Love it, I’ve got both colourways now.

“Saving the black version for going out! Great dress for the price and so comfy to wear. I’m 5’ 1’’ and the length is just above my ankle. Already worn it loads. Wash well too although I did use a wash bag as I was concerned about snags. It is stretchy too so I got away with a small – I’m normally a size 12.”

A few shoppers noted that ‘the fabric is thick and it’s not see-through’, however, if you aren’t wearing nude underwear you may want to layer this piece. Another review added: “You do need skin-coloured underwear or a slip beneath it as brightly coloured underwear shows through the gaps in the knit.”

Someone else wrote: “I bought these in last year’s colourways and absolutely loved them so when I saw they had been brought back this year I had to have them both. I am a size 10-12 and bought the small.

“These are just the best dresses. Love them and can’t wait to wear them on holiday very shortly. Thank you M&S!”

You can shop the Cotton Rich Striped Midi Knitted Dress here but if you find your size out of stock, other high street brands have some stylish alternatives. New Look’s £35.99 Black Stripe Knit Sleeveless Bodycon Maxi Dress is part of Nadine Coyle’s edit and River Island’s Navy Crochet Stripe Bodycon Maxi Dress can be nabbed for £40.
