Celtic fans are understandably in celebratory mood after the Hoops completed the double with a 1-0 win over the Rangers in the final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park. Adam Idah’s late strike sealed the game in favour of Brendan Rodgers’ side and ensured a happy end to a campaign that was full of ups and downs.
As for the Rangers, it was another defeat at the hands of Celtic. They have finished the season without a single win over the Hoops, losing four times while drawing once.
Naturally, it is worth taking a look at the reaction of the Rangers supporters in the aftermath of the match. Interestingly, their opinion seems to be divided.
Naturally, a lot of their focus has been on the refereeing in the final, as you would expect. But then, Philippe Clement and his future has arisen as a topic of discussion as well, following another high-profile loss against Celtic.
A section of the Rangers fanbase has called for the club to back Clement in the summer. They are very aware that a rebuild is needed at Ibrox. But then, is not that the story almost every summer?
On the other hand, there are those who seem to have given up on Clement. They want a change in the managerial hot seat over the summer, having seen Celtic win the Premiership and Scottish Cup double despite being nowhere near their best.
So, it looks like the Rangers fans’ opinion on Clement and his future is pretty divided coming out of the Scottish Cup final. At least that seems to be the view on social media websites.
The general feeling is that Clement will be given the start of next season. But we have seen in recent years that the Rangers will not think twice about changing managers.
