Sony seems to be hiding PS1 games on the PS Vita now

Must read

If you’ve had your fill of the best PS Vita games and are looking for a few more classic PS1 games to add to your digital collection, you’re not going to have an easy time finding them on the Vita’s PS Store. It seems Sony has gone to the trouble of making the majority of PS1 games on PS Vita hidden, although there is still a way to find some of your favorites!

PS Vita’s PS Store looks even more barren with missing PS1 games

In case you weren’t aware, the PS Store on Sony’s PlayStation Vita is still open for business. Saying that, it’s certainly no longer the bastion of PlayStation portable gaming it once was. Plenty of PS Vita games and classic PS1 and PSP games have been delisted from the store over the years. Plus, it doesn’t help that Sony seems to be hiding most of the PS1 games that haven’t been delisted yet.

In the screenshots above, you’ll see all seven PS1 games currently visible under the PSOne Classics tab on the main PS Vita menu. Even as late as 2023, you could still see classic PS1 Final Fantasy games listed here alongside other franchises like Crash Bandicoot and Tomb Raider. Now, the list has been shrunk to include only the following PS1 games: Airboat Racing, Driver, Fear Effect, Gex, Guilty Gear, Oddworld Abe’s Oddysee, and Rayman.

So, where have all those classic PS1 games gone? Well, while a number of titles were delisted from the PS Vita’s PS Store back in 2021, you can still find many of the biggest PS1 games available for purchase and download. You just have to know what you’re looking for and use the PS Store’s search option to find it.

Using this method, you’ll notice in the screenshot above that I was still able to find the Final Fantasy games for PS1. I was also able to find the Crash Bandicoot and Tomb Raider games and plenty more. Obviously, the downside is that you’ll need to know what games should be available and how to find them, but it turns out the majority of PS1 games that weren’t already delisted are still lurking on PS Vita out of sight.

Seeing as PlayStation Stars is still rewarding PS3 and PS Vita purchases with loyalty points, it’s good to know that we can still load up on PS1 games on these older PlayStation consoles. However, it looks like Sony isn’t making things easy for us by making the PS Store on both consoles increasingly difficult to navigate.

Of course, if you don’t own a PS Vita and want to check out some classic PlayStation games on your modern console, our PS1 games list contains all the PS1 classics with trophy lists available on PS Plus Premium. As for the PS Vita users out there — have you noticed any recent changes on the platform? Let us know down in the comments!
