Brendan Rodgers has warned Liverpool are facing a transitional period after appointing Arne Slot.

Slot has come in to replace Jurgen Klopp, who has left his post after nine years in charge at Anfield. Klopp actually took over from Rodgers back in 2015, leading Liverpool to the Premier League title, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.

He leaves with the Reds having finished third in the top-flight in the season just gone. Slot faces a tough test building on his work, with this being his first job outside of his homeland of the Netherlands.

And Rodgers believes that success will take time for Slot to come by. He faced the Dutchman when his Celtic side faced Feyenoord in the Champions League group stages, with Rodgers left impressed by Slot.

“I think it is a transition,” he told talkSPORT. “When someone has been at a club for so long like Jurgen, he has his stamp all over the club, the staff, the players. He and his staff will move on, one or two players will move on.

“There will be that transitional period but Arne’s a good guy. I came across him when we played Feyenoord in the Champions League this season. His teams play good football and I am sure it will be a really good fit for him. Liverpool, another of those clubs, iconic club, big history, and I am sure he will go in and do really well.”

The deal taking Slot to Liverpool was confirmed last weekend, with the Dutchman taking up his duties soon. He paid tribute to Feyenoord after his departure, admitting that the chance to ake charge of Liverpool was too good to turn down.
