New Galway shopping centre plans approved as restaurant taking over

Plans for a new restaurant opening at a shopping centre in Galway have been approved this week as the proposal is greenlit by the council.

Galway City Council have approved plans for a restaurant to open its doors at a retail unit in Galway Shopping Centre on Headford Road.




The plans were put forward at the end of March earlier this year by Lindat Ltd., who proposed to change the use of one if the centre’s retail units into a restaurant.

According to the proposal, the developer is applying for “a change of use from Retail to Restaurant for unit no. 61 accessed from within the shopping centre mall, with new mall shopfront signage fascia to include new aluminium fascia, internally illuminated logo, strapline text, illuminated projecting sign, window manifestations and all associated works and service provision including an extract vent mounted on the shopping centre flat roof above the unit.”

Galway City Council made their decision to approve the plans on Wednesday May 22.

Elsewhere this week, sad news broke on Wednesday that ne of Galway’s best-known and longest-serving stores will close its doors after 93 years in business.

Galway institution Ward’s is shutting its doors for good after nearly a hundred years in the city.
