The Galaxy Book 4 Edge, which was unveiled yesterday, is Samsung’s first laptop with advanced AI features. And it comes just a few months after the launch of Samsung’s first AI phone lineup, the Galaxy S24.
Some of the Galaxy AI features seen on the Galaxy S24 have been brought to the Galaxy Book 4 Edge.
Galaxy Book 4 Edge features Galaxy AI, powered by Snapdragon X Elite’s powerful NPU
The Galaxy Book 4 Edge uses the Snapdragon X Elite processor, which was unveiled last year. It is Qualcomm’s first chipset to use the custom Oryon CPU core developed by Nuvia.
This CPU core runs circles around the CPU cores used in Apple’s M series chips. This chip also features a powerful NPU that offers up to 45 tera operations per second (TOPS) of AI inferencing performance, making the Snapdragon X Elite great at AI performance. Moreover, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge runs a new version of Windows 11 that’s optimized for ARM64-based processors.
Circle to Search via Link to Windows
With the Link to Windows feature, users can mirror their Galaxy phone’s screen and use features like Circle to Search. This feature is a part of the Galaxy AI suite available on the Galaxy S24. You can watch that feature in action in our video below.
Windows Copilot with dedicated key
Galaxy Book 4 Edge users can click the dedicated Copilot button to bring up Windows Copilot. It can answer questions, bring information from the web, and recommend actions to find files or solve issues.
Recall
Then there’s the new Recall feature, available on all Co-Pilot+ PC devices. This feature allows users to search for anything they did on the Galaxy Book 4 Edge using search queries in their natural language. Users can search for recently created documents, emails, or videos.
Cocreator in Paint
This feature in the new version of the Paint app allows users to turn simple sketches into professional art. Users can set exactly how much AI they want in their sketch.
AI-powered Live Caption with live translation
The Galaxy Book 4 Edge can create captions while playing audio and video and then convert them into the language of your choice.
Windows Studio Effects during video calls
The powerful NPU inside the Snapdragon X Elite helps the Galaxy Book 4 Edge support real-time camera effects during video calls. These effects include background blur, background replacement, focus adjustment, and camera filters.
While these features are available on other PCs, thanks to the NPU, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge consumes a fraction of the power.
