King Charles breaks with tradition for Christmas speech from ex-hospital chapel

The King will break from tradition and deliver his Christmas message at a former hospital chapel and away from the royal estate, Buckingham Palace has announced.

This year’s message, which was recorded two weeks ago, will be from Fitzrovia Chapel, the former chapel of Middlesex Hospital in Pearson Square, central London.

It is the first Christmas broadcast in 14 years not to be recorded at either Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

The building has significance for the royal family, with King George VI laying the foundation stone of the building in 1928.
