Belfast City Airport has reopened following an incident yesterday when a flight made a hard landing due to adverse weather conditions.
The plane’s landing gear is believed to have collapsed.
The Aer Lingus regional flight, operated by Emerald Airlines, landed at around 4pm after flying from Edinburgh.
There were four crew on board and no passengers.
The runway was closed for the remainder of the day, but reopened this morning and is operating as normal, Belfast City Airport said in a post on X.
Following an incident on 22 December, the runway at Belfast City Airport has reopened & is operating as normal. Passengers impacted by yesterday’s closure or those due to travel today should check the status of their flight with the airline.

Yesterday, a spokesperson from Emerald Airlines said: “An Emerald Airlines positioning flight, EA701P, with no passengers on board, flying from Edinburgh to Belfast City Airport, December 22 2024, experienced a hard landing upon arriving into Belfast City Airport due to adverse weather conditions.”
A spokesperson the airport said it was a “positioning fight” with no passengers but four crew members on board.
It said the airport’s emergency procedures were put into operation.
