Must read

Presenter and podcaster Fearne Cotton has shared photos of her tumour surgery scars for the first time, as she said she is “grateful” for the healing process and will wear the scar “with pride”

Fearne Cotton has courageously shown off her healing scars following surgery to remove tumours from her jaw. The Happy Place podcast host and TV and radio presenter had previously disclosed that she was having an operation to extract two benign tumours from her jaw.

She has now taken to social media to give fans a peek at her recovery process. Fearne, a mother of two, expressed her gratitude for her good healing and vowed to wear her scar with pride. Alongside images of the right side of her face, Fearne started: “The human body is incredible.”

“In less than three weeks you can barely notice where I had the tumour removed. I feel almost normal. My ear is still quite numb and my face a little tender but other than that I’m feeling good.

“Only swipe if you want to see the gradual stages of healing. It’s not massively gruesome but it certainly looks worse than photo number 1. I found the whole process fascinating and feel very grateful that the operation went well and that the tumour was benign.

“My surgeon Professor Oflynn made me feel extremely calm and all the nurses were complete angels. Nurse Jackie was especially amazing whilst I was in hospital telling me to get off my phone and nap etc. I needed a firm telling off at times.”

She continued: “Feeling grateful that I’m healing well and will always wear this scar with pride. A reminder to slow down and look after myself.”, reports the Mirror. These past few weeks have been challenging for the star, who also announced her split from husband Jesse Woods.

Fearne first revealed this month to her followers that she has a benign tumour in her jaw, along with a smaller one above it. She shared: “I’m very grateful they’re benign but they do need to come out because they’re on a nerve. So I’m gonna have that surgery, and then I’m gonna be resting to get better before Christmas. Not very good at resting, so wondering how that’s gonna go. But I’m feeling okay about it. I’m going into the operation feeling good and well.”

The TV star dropped another shocker when she announced that she and hubby Jesse Wood are splitting after a decade together. Days later she took to Instagram, saying: “It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage. Our priority has been, and will always be, our children. We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.”

Fearne tied the knot with Jesse, the son of rock legend Ronnie Wood, back in July 2014 following their engagement announcement the previous year. The pair met under the sun in Ibiza back in 2011 and have two kids, Rex and Honey.

Jesse also has Arthur and Lola from an earlier relationship. Fearne has also opened up about the “toxic pressure” women face to “have it all.” Speaking on Caroline Hirons’ podcast, she reflected on her recent struggles with health issues, a marriage breakdown, and balancing motherhood with work. She confessed: “The pressure is immense.”

Fearne continued: “There is a lot of pressure for women to prove ourselves, that we can run businesses, I’m trying to do the same with Happy Place. But if we are honest, the pressure is immense.”

She added: “I want to grow and expand myself in many ways but I don’t want to feel depleted and stressed out and not be able to be present in my family home, [I want to] have time with my friends, have fun. There is still that toxic sort of trope that women can have it all, that people believe.”

The TV presenter has hosted shows like The Xtra Factor, Top Of The Pops, and was a panellist on ITV’s Celebrity Juice. In 2015, she left BBC Radio 1’s mid-morning show for “family and new adventures”, after announcing her second pregnancy. Fearne currently hosts the Happy Place podcast where she interviews celebrities such as US actress Riley Keough, Scottish TV and film star David Tennant and singer Perrie Edwards.
