The Scouse comic captured the hearts of the nation with his inspiring journey on the way to lifting the glitterball
Strictly Come Dancing fans are braced for disappointment as the sad reality sets in after Chris McCausland’s incredible glitterball win. The Liverpool comedian is the show’s first ever blind contestant and captured the hearts of the nation with his amazing performances alongside Dianne Buswell.
The two brought the curtain down in memorable style last night with three unforgettable routines on their way to being crowned winners. They performed a Couple’s Choice to Instant Karma by John Lennon, a Showdance to You Get What You Give by the New Radicals and an emotionally stirring Waltz to You”ll Never Walk Alone.
Chris was in tears as he was announced the show winner and vowed he is now bonded for life with Dianne. He said: “It’s astonishing. I don’t know what to say. I honestly thought I could go out in the first week or two. I know nobody could go out in the first week but I still thought I could.
“We’ve just lasted and lasted. She has got so much out of me and she deserves this so much. Every day, she is positivity, she is belief and she is one of the easiest people to be funny with that I’ve ever met.”

He added: “Unless she changes her number, she’s stuck with me. This is for her and this is for everyone out there who got told they couldn’t do something or thought they couldn’t do something. With opportunity, support and determination, anything can happen.”
Dianne agreed and branded the two as “friends for life” after their memorable experience that ranks among the very top of Strictly’s greatest ever stories. She added: “Chris said this is for me, but this is not for me. This is for me and you Chris. This is for both of us. We did it.”
However, viewers are braced for disappointment as it sinks in how Saturday’s finale really is the last time Chris and Dianne are scheduled to perform together. Traditionally, fan favourites on the show will reprise their partnership for the Strictly Come Dancing live tour which hits the road after the season ends.
Last year’s edition featured all the finalists including Ellie Leach, Bobby Brazier and Layton Williams. However, Chris won’t be able to continue his Strictly journey on the live tour due to his commitments to his stand up tour, Yonks.
A spokesperson told our sister site, Mirror Online: “Chris has already shifted the dates of his tour to do ‘Strictly’ and that wasn’t an easy thing to do. There were a lot of disappointed people and it was stressful – we got a lot of messages.
“So he couldn’t move them again, absolutely not. Everyone has been very straight about this all the way along the line. It’s a great shame, because he’d love to do the tour, but Chris is not available.
“He said at the point of signing up that he wouldn’t be able to do it, that it wasn’t going to be possible, it was always clear.” The spokesperson added: “The lovely thing is no one could have foreseen just how well it was going to go for him on ‘Strictly’.
“No one thought he’d get this far. But having already moved his tour dates once to accommodate the show, he is unable to do it again. His own tour was pre-planned and came first. There’s no way it can be moved for a second time, that just wouldn’t be fair on his fans.”
Fans on X took to the social media platform after the sad reality set in that Chris and Dianne would not be able to reprise their partnership. Luke said: “I can’t stop thinking about Chris not doing the live tour and the other 3 all doing it… it’d be a travesty if the winner of the show wasn’t doing the tour.”
Lauren commented: “I know why he’s not doing it but I’m still sad Chris isn’t doing the tour.” Tasha Ghouri, JB Gill, Jamie Borthwick, Wynne Evans, Sarah Hadland, Montell Douglas and Shayne Ward have been confirmed for the tour.
The Strictly Come Dancing Live tour is coming to the M&S Bank Arena on January 28 and 29. Chris’ soaring popularity has prompted him to extend his stand up tour all the way into 2026. Chris is performing in Liverpool on January 31 and February 1 with gigs at the Philharmonic Hall. He recently announced another date on February 1 at the earlier time of 3pm.
