WWE will present WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14, and plans changed for one match that was initially set to be part of the card.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that, originally, WWE planned to finish the feud between Seth Rollins and Bronson Reed with a final match between the two foes at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. However, Reed’s injury forced WWE to change their pans. Drew McIntyre returned sooner than initially planned and launched his feud with Sami Zayn. As confirmed on the December 9 episode of WWE RAW, McIntyre will face Zayn at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Reed suffered a broken foot at WWE Survivor Series when he dove off the cage in the WarGames match. WWE announced that he would be out of action indefinitely. Reed then underwent surgery on December 11.
Drew McIntyre On His Absence From WWE
Before his return on December 2, McIntyre had been absent from WWE programming since WWE Bad Blood. He then commented on taking some time away while speaking on KWCH 12 Morning News.
“I was off the past two months,” McIntyre said. “My last match was a Hell in a Cell match, a very brutal match. I got hit in the head at one point, I needed 16 staples to close a wound on the top of my head. I suffered a family loss as well. So I had to go back to Scotland, deal with that, re-evaluate my priorities.
“I realized that I had probably given a bit too much to my profession and to my colleagues and not enough to my family. Kind of realized I’ve been giving too much for the past 17 years, and it’s time to probably start taking a little more, so I’m very much going into tonight with the mentality, I’m gonna take what’s mine, I’m gonna beat up people that deserve to be beat up. Yeah, this is gonna be an interesting phase for Drew McIntyre.”
WrestleZone will have coverage of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event as it airs on December 14.
