iPhone 17 Design To See A Radical Change, With A Tipster Commenting That The Rear Camera Array Will Be Completely Re-Arranged

Must read

Apple is said to adopt multiple changes for the iPhone 17 series next year, and it is entirely possible for the company to introduce a design change when unveiling the new models in 2025. According to a tipster, who states that he has received information courtesy of the technology giant’s supply chain, believes that the design change will include a re-arrangement of the rear camera array. For multiple generations, Apple has stuck to keeping the various sensors in a specific cluster, but this approach might be a thing of the past now.

New design could be purposely chosen for the iPhone 17 as it will help Apple to introduce a thin profile for the ‘Air’ model

On Weibo, tipster Digital Chat Station uploaded a picture of the potential design that Apple could use for the iPhone 17, with the most notable difference being the vertically mounted rear camera. We have reported about this design change previously, while also mentioning that the iPhone 17 Pro will feature a part-aluminum chassis instead of titanium. Even if such a chassis exists right now, we would not be surprised if Apple does not stick with it during the official unveiling.

After all, it is not surprising for companies like Apple to have multiple prototypes like the one you are seeing in the picture. It is just up to the company to decide which exterior shell it will choose that best depicts the firm’s design language of iPhones. However, with the iPhone 17 Air possibly debuting next year with a significantly reduced thickness than the iPhone 6, the design change could be warranted.

Shifting the primary camera components at the top means that Apple would only need to allocate space in that area to make the hump bigger while the rest of the device remains thin. The tipster mentions that the lens’ specifications are currently unknown but claims that several Android phone makers will adopt this design. Remember that Apple can scrap this chassis and stick with the older one, so it is best to treat this rumor with a pinch of salt for now.
