The 10th anniversary of The Game Awards is about to get under way in Los Angeles with rapper Snoop Dogg helping mark the occasion
Gamers globally will be glued to their screens for one of the biggest events of the year, the Game Awards 2024.
Hosted by video game journalist Geoff Keighley, organisers have pulled out all the stops for the 10th anniversary of the show with rapper Snoop Dogg set to perform and The Muppets’ Waldorf and Statler presenting one of the awards.
The glitzy ceremony, rivalling the Oscars or the Grammys, will involve developers, players and the games themselves being honoured in various categories from Game of the Year to Best eSports Athlete.
And there may even be some big announcements about new releases.
Keighley told Variety: “I always say, people get excited to see one thing because they know it exists – but what about all those things that you don’t know exist?
“We always see the fake lists online of, ‘All these things are getting announced.’
“And it’s just because those are things people know exist.
“And I’m like, but, what if there’s a whole set of other things out there?”
When are the 2024 Game Awards and how can I watch?
The 2024 Game Awards will be held in the US on Thursday 12 December at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
The event kicks off at 4.30pm (local time), which is 12.30am (GMT) on Friday 13 December in the UK.
For those who didn’t get tickets, there is a live stream of the event on The Game Awards YouTube channel here.
It will also be live and free to air across all major digital, social and gaming platforms globally including Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and Twitch.
