Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, and Miley Cyrus are lightyears away from the teen actors they were when we first encountered them more than a decade ago. The Nickelodeon and Disney alumni have remained significant figures in the pop arena ever since, but they’ve really only ever overlapped in an awards capacity at events like the Billboard and American Music Awards. Now, they each appear among the nominees for the 2025 Golden Globes.

Both Grande and Gomez entered new chapters of their careers this year, bringing them into new critical tiers as they earn their first-ever Golden Globes nominations for film appearances. The two musician-actresses are nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, Motion Picture category at the 2025 Golden Globes.

Grande earned a nomination in the category for her role as Glinda in Wicked, an adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical. “I am floored and honored to be recognized by the members of the @goldenglobes,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s impossible to find my words, but I am simply, so deeply grateful for this acknowledgement.”

Gomez appears in the same category in recognition of her performance as Jessi Del Monte in the musical Emilia Pérez, which blends crime and comedy. The actress and singer shared a video on her Instagram Story of the moment she saw the nomination. In the clip, Gomez sits up from beneath a pile of blankets with a jaw-dropping expression. She’s nominated in the category alongside her co-star Zoe Saldaña. Emilia Pérez scored a whopping 10 nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes.

Both Wicked and Emilia Pérez are nominated for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy. Gomez also scored a television nomination for Only Murders in the Building, the murder mystery series she leads alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin. The nod marks her third consecutive nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

Cyrus is also a returning Golden Globes nominee, with her first nod in 15 years. This year, the singer-songwriter earned a nomination for Best Original Song — Motion Picture for “Beautiful That Way,” which appears in the Pamela Anderson-led film The Last Showgirl. Cyrus is the lead performer on the record, co-written with Lykke Li and Andrew Wyatt. She was last nominated in the same category in 2009 for “I Thought I Lost You” from the Disney animated film Bolt.
