Strictly Come Dancing winner ‘sealed’ ahead of 2024 final

Must read

Strictly Come Dancing fans believe they’ve already spotted the 2024 champion as the four finalists were announced during Sunday’s tension-filled results show.

During the latest episode, Pete Wicks and his dance partner Jowita Przystal faced their first dance-off, up against Tasha Ghouri and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

Tasha and Aljaz took to the stage to perform their Waltz to Aretha Franklin’s (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, while Pete and Jowita delivered a sultry Argentine Tango to The Verve’s Bitter Sweet Symphony. Following the dreaded dance-off, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke unanimously opted to save Tasha and Aljaz.

With a trio of votes against them, Pete and Jowita bid farewell to the contest, missing out on a chance to vie for the glitterball in the final next week.

The line-up for the Strictly Come Dancing 2024 finale is now set with Tasha and Aljaz, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell, Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, along with JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, reports the Mirror.

Taking to Twitter, now X, over the results viewers claimed that Chris was their 2024 winner. One person said: “I’m gutted! Pete has done so extremely well. Chris for the win now!”, a different account put: “Chris and Dianne are gonna TAKE this and I can’t wait for it”, another wrote: “They’re gonna win I know it. Said from the start they’re the real winners”.

Elsewhere, another show watcher put: “Chris will win it no doubt about that said it from week 1”, a different viewer put: “Yes Chris and Dianna are through Chris to win”, another said: “Chris, for the win, it will be between him and JB” while another account added: “COME ON CHRIS AND DIANNE!” alongside a trophy emoji.

When asked about his time on the show, Pete said in an emotional three-word response: “It’s been beautiful!” He continued: “It’s been wild. I’ve been quite honest about the fact that I didn’t necessarily want to do this [Strictly] in the first place, but everyone else wanted me to do it, and I am so, so glad that I did it!

“You don’t always have to be the best, but if you enjoy something then why shouldn’t you have a go at it? I’ve tried my best from day one, I said I was in for a penny, in for a pound and I’ve done it, it’s been beautiful.”

The Strictly Come Dancing Grand Final returns live on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 14 December at 6pm.
