MailOnline reader – ‘JB deserves to win’

We’re seeing more support for JB Gill as attentions will inevitably turn to next week’s final.

Our reader MissWillmottsGhost says she hopes JB will lift the trophy after watching him improve week on week.

He’s had to cope with losing his initial partner Amy Dowden midway through the series but has struck up a impressive understanding with Lauren Oakley.

For ages now, Sarah was my favourite dancer. But the past few weeks and seeing JB improve each week and his dance last night, I really hope he will win. He is a thoroughly nice guy, he deserves to win. Chris is amazing too. Thank goodness Pete Wicks has gone, miserable bloke

MailOnline reader CrazyHorse 2 says they will miss settling down to watch Pete Wicks on the Strictly ballroom…especially his pink trousers

It’s just one example of how the TOWIE star struck a chord with viewers over the past 12 weeks.

At times he appeared embarrassed by his longevity but he can doubtless be proud of his time on the show.

I’ve loved watching peter , especially the pink trousers lol..he knew the public were keeping him in , but he put in the hard work & I’m.sure changed alot of people’s thought of him

MailOnline reader: ‘I would like JB to win’

MailOnline reader Lonesome29 has backed JB Gill to lift the Glitterball next week.

The JLS singer has put together a string of impressive performances in recent weeks culminating in a 79 out of a possible 80 in his two dances during the live show.

Is he the dancer to beat?

At last the correct result.(Shirley will be having withdrawal symptoms). Personally I would like JB to win, he seems such a lovely person and he certainly can dance, he is amazing. Why does everyone keep saying because he was in a boy band he knows how to dance; I cannot recall anyone in a band dancing the Waltz or the Quickstep! He deserves to win and I certainly hope he does!

‘What a great guy and dancer’

There’s an outpouring of love for Pete Wicks on social media as Strictly viewers react to his semi-final exit.

Here’s a snapshot of what we’re seeing so far…

Final four confirmed

We know our finalists for next Saturday as Pete Wicks falls at the final hurdle.

Not a huge surprise he was eliminated given his position on the leaderboards in recent weeks but undeninably popular with the public.

We’ll keep our live coverage going for the time being so please let us know what you think of Pete’s exit?

And who’s your tip to win the Glitterball?

Pete – I’ve tried my best from day one

EMBARGOED TO 2000 SUNDAY DECEMBER 8For use in UK, Ireland or Benelux countries only BBC handout photo of Tess Daly, Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal during the results show of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC1. Reality star Pete Wicks will miss out on the Strictly Come Dancing final after becoming the 11th celebrity to depart the show. Issue date: Sunday December 8, 2024. PA Photo. In his exit speech, Pete Wicks tells Tess:

It’s been wild. I’ve been quite honest about the fact that I didn’t necessarily want to do Strictly in the first place but everyone else wanted me to do it – and I am so glad that I did! You don’t always have to be the best but if you enjoy something then why shouldn’t you have a go at it? I’ve tried my best from day one, I said I was in for a penny, in for a pound and I’ve done it, it’s been beautiful.

There’s a lot of things I’m going to take away from this, but one of the most special things is Jowita. You’re one of the most incredible people – not just as a dancer but as a person. You’ve been a ray of sunshine for me.

You’ve helped me through things in the past three months that I didn’t think I could do and you made me believe in myself and that means more to me than anything.

Judges save Tasha as Pete Wicks is eliminated

EMBARGOED TO 2000 SUNDAY DECEMBER 8For use in UK, Ireland or Benelux countries only BBC handout photo of Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec with Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal during the results show of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC1. Here we go…we’re about to hear from the judges.

Anton seals Pete’s fate by going for Tasha as well.

Shirley confirms it was a unanimous decision by telling us she would have saved Tasha and Aljaz as well.

Pete responds

Pete Wicks needs the dance of his life if he is to convince the judges he deserves a place in the final.

He’s up with Jowita as they dance the Argentine Tango to Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve.

He scored 33 points with it during the live show…will need to improve significantly if he has any chance.

Tasha and Aljaz up first

Surely Tasha starts the dance off as heavy favourite but as Shirley says you never know.

She starts the dance off with a waltz with Aljaz to A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin.

The couple have scored 40 twice this series and another storming performance will surely be enough unless Pete pulls something spectacular out of the bag.

Pete – It’s been a mad, mad, mad journey

Pete has insisted he feels good despite the fact he’s in the dance off tonight.

He says it’s been a ‘mad, mad, mad journey’ and isn’t surprised he faces eviction tonight, adding he’s done his best.

Shirley reminds him ‘nothing is over’ ahead of his performance which will be another Argentine Tango.

Pete to face Tasha in the dance off

Tess has revealed that Pete Wicks will face Tasha Ghouri in the dance off…

JB and Lauren are through to the final.

He’s avoided the dance off for several weeks but can’t escape it tonight.

Is this the last we will see of Pete?

Craig – You wouldn’t want to face Tasha in the dance off

The judges are now being interviewed by Claudia on the results show for the last time this series.

Craig has outlined the tough challenge for JB or Pete as he tells the host that anyone wouldn’t want to go up against Tasha in the dance off.

Which of the men will she be up against?

Raye takes centre stage

We’re now being treated to the second musical performance of the night as Raye takes to the stage.

The Brit Award winner is performing Genesis Pt III and the artist is coming back for the final next weekend.

Chris visibly emotional as he reflects on Strictly journey

Chris McCausland said he was ’emotional wreck’ during the live show and it shows as he reflects on reaching the Strictly final.

Claudia reminds him he himself said he thought he would be in the ballroom for three weeks.

We also know what the couple’s song will be next week for the showdance next week as they move to You Get What You Give by New Radicals.

Tasha and Aljaz in the dance off

Tasha and Aljaz have just been confirmed as one half of tonight’s dance off.

The couple have been there before so will know the drill…

Will they be up against Pete and Jowita or JB and Lauren?

Chris and Dianne through!

Chris and Dianne are also through!

The comedian lets out a huge yes as he hugs his partner.

What an achievement for the pair

Sarah and Vito safe

Sarah and Vito are named the first finalists of Strictly Come Dancing.

Vito jumps up and down with uncontrollable excitement.

You can see what it means to them tonight!

‘I’m hoping my name is called’

The celebrities have had their say on making the final.

Tasha says: ‘to get there would be the biggest dream come true’, while JB adds: ‘I’m hoping my name is called’.

Chris tells us everyone has a chance of getting to the final or being in the dance off.

While Craig caps it off to say it’s all ‘up for grabs’

We’ve now got the first of two musical performances with Becky Hill, who was on The Voice, singing Indestructible.

The first results of the night are now momenrts away.

The last dance…off

All the couples are on stage as Tess and Claudia set the scene for tonight’s show.

The hosts say 12 weeks of hard work comes down to tonight with the finalists for this year’s series to be revealed by 8pm.

Tess makes the point tonight is the last dance-off in the competition.

So who will be dancing to survive later?

It’s time!

The Strictly Come Dancing week 12 results show is now under way.

Stick with us as we bring you live commentary of tonight’s elimination as we learn who will be in next week’s final.

Watch: Chris and Dianne struggle to hold back tears after semi-final performance

Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell became emotional after their performance on Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The comedian, 47, is the first blind contestant in the history of the BBC show, and on Saturday he and partner Dianne scored 36 out of 40 for their Viennese waltz to Metallica track Nothing Else Matters.

With his arm around Dianne, Chris held back tears as he told host Claudia Winkleman: ‘When you start this series, they ask you for a list of songs you like. And I put this song on it and didn’t know anything about dancing.

‘Underneath it, I wrote “I reckon this might suit one of those spinny whizzy ones” and I was right! But it’s incredible and it felt wonderful to do it with Diane.’

Friends of the CBeebies star had come to support him the studio audience at the semi-final, and he admitted he was an ’emotional wreck’ with them there.

He warned Claudia: ‘Don’t get me started, I’m an emotional wreck tonight. I’m telling you.’

Pete Wicks ‘will invite Maura Higgins to watch him in Strictly Come Dancing’ final

I'm A Celebrity's Maura Higgins claps back at Pete Wicks questionITV/Getty Images

Pete Wicks is planning to invite Maura Higgins to watch him in the Strictly Come Dancing final next Saturday, according to reports.

The former TOWIE star, 36, has told pals he would like to ‘make it official’ with the beauty, 34, when she returns back to the UK from I’m A Celeb in Australia.

Over the past few months the pair have been meeting for secret dates, although both stars have refused to label their relationship and insist that they are still single.

A source told The Sun: ‘Pete has really missed Maura while she has been away, and he has found it hard not being able to contact her. It’s made him realise how special she is to him.

‘He’s told his mates that he is thinking of asking her to be ‘exclusive’, meaning they won’t date anyone else.

‘Plus if he does make it through to the Strictly finals next week he thinks it would be the perfect week to invite her to watch him in the audience.’

Tasha Ghouri is looking to take the next step in her career after her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

As the second deaf contestant on the show, the 26-year-old has consistently impressed this season, topping the leaderboard on Strictly multiple times and achieving the first perfect score of 2024 with her American Smooth performance.

With only two weeks left in the competition, Tasha is already eyeing new opportunities in television presenting.

‘I haven’t had lots of TV offers yet, but I’d love to do presenting next year,’ Tasha said.

‘I think that’s my main focus and something I’m definitely looking at. Hopefully there’ll be conversations that start next year.’

Born deaf and wearing a cochlear implant, she made history on Love Island as its first deaf contestant, finishing joint fourth with her boyfriend, Andrew Le Page, with whom she remains in a relationship.

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have been left outraged after the results of Saturday’s show were leaked once again, ahead of next week’s grand final.

The BBC competition is set to air the prerecorded results show on Sunday night, revealing which two couples received the least votes and ended up in the dance-off.

But, a notorious mole on the flagship show has revealed the bottom two couples and which of them will be sent packing and narrowly missing the final.

And while the latest spoiler has left fans ‘sad’ and ‘disappointed’, they have taken to social media to praise the remaining four as ‘deserving’ finalists.

They wrote: ‘Sad about the spoiler but they all deserve to be in that final! Well done to the finalists’; ‘i’m happy my favourite got to the final!’

Pete Wicks favourite to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing

Pete Wicks is heavy favourite to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing in Saturday’s semi-final, following his survival in the competition last weekend despite finishing bottom of the leaderboard.

The former TOWIE star, 36, is 4/9 to leave on Sunday according to William Hill, although he has defied the odds in recent weeks.

He dodged the Week 11 dance-off after scoring just 26 for his Waltz on Saturday night, but with just five pairings left in the competition, he is strongly tipped to go next.

JB Gill is next in the market at 3/1, followed by Tasha Ghouri at 8/1 – the survivor of the most recent dance-off.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: ‘Pete Wicks has once again defied the odds in avoiding his elimination from Strictly Come Dancing, but we make it 4/9 that his luck runs out this Saturday.

‘The public vote is saving the ex-TOWIE star at the moment, but with just five pairings left in the competition, Wicks looks increasingly likely to find himself in this week’s dance-off and is unlikely to be saved by the judges, with JB Gill following him in the market for next elimination at 3/1.’
