Tasha Ghouri and professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec’s opened Strictly Come Dancing’s semi final with a salsa to ‘Something New’ by Girls Aloud. The latest live show will see the five remaining couples compete for a place in next weekend’s final, with only four able to battle it out for the Glitterball trophy. All of the couples will perform twice during the live show.

Tasha took to the dancefloor in a fringed, embellished silver lilac dress and a permed wig but many fans were left underwhelmed by the song choice. One fan took to X formerly known a Twitter saying “The song choices this series are just bizarre!” Another added “you cannot salsa to this song.” While a further post read: “That was so manic and frantic. A bit too try hard. The song was awful too.”

Judge Shirley Ballas said: “You came out with fire in your belly but transitions suffered”. Anton said: “Brilliant technical quality and expression but not quite seamless.”

Craig Revel Horwood added “dance in and out of every transition but the lifts were phenomenal”. Motsi concludes “insane beginning, loved the movement and power” before telling them “what a way to open the semi final.” The dance partners received a score of 35 out of a possible 40 from the judges.

Tasha and Aljaz will take to the dancefloor again later on tonight when theywill perform a Waltz to (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin.
