Fortnite OG, a new game mode that restores the Chapter 1 Season 1 version of Fortnite, already has a staggering number of players. Within 20 minutes of its release on Friday morning, the game mode garnered more than one million concurrent players on the regular build mode of Fortnite, and roughly 270,000 on Zero Build, per the Fortnite launcher.
The popular release comes on the heels of another big event in Fortnite history. On Nov. 30, Fortnite hosted its “Remix: The Finale” event — a virtual concert that brought in more than 14 million viewers, making it the most viewed in-game Fortnite event of all time.
Fortnite OG refers to whenever Epic Games revives an old map of Fortnite. Typically speaking, the different iterations of Fortnite OG have drawn in large numbers of players. In November 2023, the release of the Chapter 1 Season 5 map drew in 44.7 million players in one day.
This time around, the OG map isn’t coming as a temporary map, but as a permanent game mode. So we’ll have to wait and see just how long the hype around the return of the original map lasts. In the meantime, here’s a look at the Fortnite OG map and weapon loot pool.
