Incoming Liverpool boss Arne Slot sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ at his surprise Feyenoord farewell party as he prepares to make his Anfield move official.

Slot is expected to be announced as Jurgen Klopp‘s successor in the near future now the season has ended – with both clubs still to confirm the appointment.

He took charge of his final match in charge at De Kuip at the weekend and watched on as his side beat Excelsior in front of a large banner adorned with his face.

Goals from Gernot Trauner, Ondrej Lingr, David Hancko and Lutsharel Geertruida ensured Slot, who last week revealed he would indeed take over from Klopp after a compensation package was agreed, was given a swansong to remember.

Later that evening, Feyenoord then hosted a BBQ for Slot, his backroom staff and his players at their training ground. His family also organised a surprise party for the tactician, who was none the wiser when a rendition of one iconic anthem began.

‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ has been adopted by both Liverpool and Feyenoord and the song blared out during the party, which took place at Hotel nhow in Rotterdam.

Dutch singer Flemming was drafted in to provide entertainment on the night and the tune shared by both of Slot’s clubs quickly led to a stirring singalong.

Slot himself was filmed joining in as he linked arms with those either side of him.

The ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ lyrics were adapted for the large banner displayed at De Kuip with the words ‘Walk On, Walk On’ a tribute to the 45-year-old.

Slot, who enjoyed a successful three-year stint, was also given a guard of honour.

‘I am extremely grateful for the memories I have made at this club,’ he said.

‘I’m going to miss the people the most… the level of appreciation I have achieved here, both from supporters and players. I hope that in the future I can achieve the same or even more than that. That was very special.’

Slot was presented with the Eredivisie and KNVB Cup trophies he won during his time in charge and posed for photos alongside his children.

Liverpool’s squad are not expected to meet their new head coach until July. The Reds will then jet out to the United States for a pre-season tour.

There, they will play Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Klopp, meanwhile, produced an emotional speech before leading chants for Slot after he bowed out on a high following the Reds’ 2-0 victory against Wolves.
