Actress, writer and producer Issa Rae has just received the Pandora Leader of Change Award.
The Fashion Awards says the accolade “celebrates a person who leads with innovation to create positive change globally”.
She is the founder of Hoorae Media – formerly known as Issa Rae Productions – which, along with HBO, produced Golden Globe nominated series Insecure.
Rae first became known for her YouTube web series, The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl, which began in 2011. Her memoir, with the same title, was a New York Times bestseller.
She also played President Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie in 2023.
