The Menéndez brothers were due in court on Monday for the first time in nearly three decades as a judge considers whether to free them from prison based on new evidence.
Lyle, 56, and Erik Menéndez, 53, were sentenced to life in jail without parole for the murder of their parents in 1989 in Beverly Hills.
Prosecutors argued that the killings were motivated by greed but the brothers said they acted out of fear after being sexually abused by their father.
They have repeatedly challenged their convictions but their case has been reenergised by a Netflix drama series.
The hearing in Los Angeles will consider a habeas corpus petition — a request to examine whether someone is being lawfully detained — filed last year,
