I’m a Celeb’s Ant McPartlin admits to Dean McCullough trial error

Must read

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! presenter Ant McPartlin has admitted that he was “unprofessional” during one of Dean McCullough’s Bushtucker trials.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ has become a regular fixture at the trials during the current series of the ITV reality show, though he hasn’t been hugely successful in the tasks as he has often returned to camp with minimal stars.

During Thursday’s (November 22) episode, in which Dean had been selected to partake in yet another trial, Ant could be seen urging him to open his eyes to be able to perform better in the task after Dean decided to shut his eyes.

This came after the presenter gave a pep talk to Dean before the trial, saying: “Now Dean, I want to have a word with you. What happened yesterday? No stars. What happened the day before? You said ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here‘… You can only change the narrative by sticking with it and getting on with it.”

Ant’s interactions with Dean were noted by viewers, with some remarking that the presenter looked “done” with the campmate. In an interview with presenter Joel Dommett on aftershow I’m a Celebrity: Unpacked, Ant discussed the incident, admitting that he had acted ‘unprofessionally’.

“My annoyance came across on screen and I was quite unprofessional and I’m not happy about it,” he said, with his co-host Dec Donnelly joking, “I think you hid it quite well!” with an unconvinced face.

“Well, you get to the point where you’re like, ‘What are you doing?'” Ant added, going on to say that he would be “good cop” to Dean during his next trial.

Dean was subsequently voted by viewers to take part in another trial in Friday’s episode, with the star participating alongside McFly musician Danny Jones.

There was a humorous – and unintentional – running gag throughout the episode, which saw celebrities being billed with the wrong name.

I’m a Celebrity… airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
