Pochettino issues Chelsea future update after Boehly meeting and tunnel incident

Mauricio Pochettino has provided an update on his future at Chelsea. The 52-year-old currently faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge despite leading the Blues to European football on the final day of the Premier League season.

Chelsea cruised past Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, bringing an end to Pochettino’s first campaign in charge. Speaking to reporters after the game, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss was quizzed on whether or not he’s due to attend an ‘end-of-season’ meeting with the owners.




He replied: “I don’t know if that is going to happen or not. I don’t have any idea about this. All I can tell you is on Friday night, Todd invited me for a dinner and it was a very nice dinner together.

“But I don’t know about the rumours about the review. My staff tomorrow are flying for their holidays. I am going to stay in London for a few more days. I am always open. My phone is going to be on.”

When asked to expand on his dinner with the Chelsea co-owner, Pochettino said: “I am not going to explain. It is only for you to know that I was with him. I’m not going to talk about this. If I invite you along, and you and me have dinner, it’s not for bad things. I don’t believe that.”

Then, later in the post-match press conference, Pochettino was asked why he raced down the tunnel at full-time instead of joining the players in a lap of honour. The Blues boss said: “There was no time.
