Live: Monday’s travel updates as five M6 incidents trigger lane closures

Must read

Motorists are facing possible delays on the M6 during this morning’s rush-hour with highways officials being forced to shut off some lanes on the network. Currently there are closures on both the northbound and southbound sections in Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Currently traffic monitoring system Inrix is reporting the following:

  • One lane shut on the northbound side between Junction 16 and 17 for ’emergency repairs’;
  • One lane closed southbound between Junction 19 and 18 due to a broken down vehicle;
  • Northbound lane shut on exit slip road due to a broken down van at Junction 19;
  • One lane shut due to a broken down vehicle on the northbound carriageway between Junction 17 and 18;
  • One lane shut on southbound side from Junction 21 to Junction 20 due to a broken down vehicle.

In addition to what is happening on the motorway we will bring you the latest from the roads across North Staffordshire and South Cheshire in our dedicated blog below.

Delays on the train network

Train passengers are being warned of delays of up to 20 minutes and some cancellations on Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern between Stafford and Nuneaton. That is down to an earlier broken down train and over running engineering works.

King Street to shut

Resurfacing works are continuing on King Street today. This time the section closer to Longton will be closed off – with buses diverted.

Queues on both carriageways on the M6

National Highways is showing queueing traffic of both the north and southbound carriageways between Junctions 18 and 19 this morning due to the incidents detailed above.

A50 and A500 busy

No surprises but it’s busy on the A50 eastbound through Uttoxeter and the westbound carriageway between Meir and Sideway.
