Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes Arsenal and Liverpool will continue to threaten his side in the coming years after they won a fourth Premier League title in a row on Sunday.

The champions beat West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium, with Phil Foden bagging a brace with Rodri also on target.

City look unstoppable and have now achieved what Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea never could by winning four titles on the trot.

Arsenal finished second, while Liverpool had to make do with third in Jurgen Klopp’s final season at the helm.

Guardiola has now spoken to Sky Sports after seeing his team make Premier League history.

And the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss believes Arsenal and Liverpool will continue to challenge his side’s dominance in the coming years, despite both teams missing out this year.

“Thank you so much. Wow. It was nice, of course it was worse for Arsenal, Liverpool as well but especially Arsenal to bring us to push another level,” he said.

“Before it was Liverpool who pushed us to our limits in these past two seasons, especially this one has been an incredible season.

“We get the message, so I know they will be there for many years.

“Big talent and a young manager and a young squad, a young team, they sent us a message we need to be careful for the next years.

“Today is the day for celebrating it. The people tell me, next seven years you are going to win six Premier League titles!

“I will say you are insane. It’s not going to happen, it happened.”

Many other City players also spoke out after the game.

Foden, speaking after winning his sixth league crown, said: “It is so hard to put into words what we’ve done today.

“No team has ever done it [won four in a row], we have put ourselves into the history books.

“You see what it means to the fans and to us players working all year for this moment.

“A special moment to share it with the fans.”

He added: “I think to win the Premier League four times, no team has ever done it before, so to do it means we are up there [with the best teams of all time].

“I am just absolutely shattered to be honest.”
