Amazon’s new top-of-the-line Fire TV costs £1,600 and uses AI to supercharge EVERYTHING you’re streaming

Must read

Amazon just unveiled its most powerful, feature-packed Fire TV yet.

Dubbed the Fire TV Omni Mini-LED series, this marks Amazon’s first foray into the competitive mini-LED Smart TV market and supersedes the Fire TV Omni QLED series as the top-of-the-line tellies from the US shopping brand.

Fire TV Omni Mini-LED is available in three sizes: 55″, 65″, and 75″.

All three of these custom-designed Smart TVs are powered by the same Fire TV software found on Amazon’s best-selling range of Fire TV Stick streaming dongles. Amazon is using mini-LED for these all-new flatscreens, which boasts improved contract and brightness compared to QLED and other technologies.

Save £200 on flagship Fire TV Omni Mini-LED TVs

The all-new Fire TV Omni Mini-LED series is the most expensive model ever launched by the US retailer, topping out at a maximum £1,599. For that, you’ll be able to watch on a top-of-the-line mini-LED panel with 4K Ultra HD resolution, two built-in speakers for Dolby Atmos audio, and hands-free Alexa voice commands

The complete Fire TV Omni Mini-LED lineup arrives with a 4K Ultra HD resolution, displays capable of producing over one billion life-like colours, and up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness. As such, these new Smart TVs support flagship industry standards like Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive.

And it’s not just the screen of the flagship Fire TV Omni Mini-LED lineup that’s a substantial improvement. For the first time, Amazon has fitted its new Smart TVs with two speakers and two subwoofers that Dolby Atmos sound without the need for an external soundbar or speaker system.

A far-field microphone array — like the one found inside Amazon Echo smart speakers — can be used to issue hands-free voice commands to Alexa from the comfort of your sofa. Fire TV can also juggle multiple apps on-screen, like live video feed from a baby monitor or Ring video doorbell

Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a pivotal role in the new Fire TV models with a new feature called Intelligent Picture Technology that identifies and analyses what’s on-screen in real-time, immediately tweaking picture details for landscapes, buildings, and sports content.

Amazon has also equipped its latest telly with sensors to detect ambient light — enabling it to automatically adjust brightness and colour temperature for optimal viewing.

Fire TV Omni Mini-LED includes a far-field microphone array to enable hands-free Alexa voice controls, so you can bark commands to change channels, load-up your favourite streaming services or apps, or check a live feed from a Ring video doorbell without reaching for the remote conrol.

Rounding out the new features, the new lineup supports the Fire TV Ambient Experience, which replaces blank television screens with helpful information and beautiful artwork.

New for the Fire TV Omni Mini-LED lineup, a high-fidelity radar sensor brings this artwork to life. When active, Fire TV owners will see colourful scenes — like fluttering butterflies, swimming koi fish, and colourful tiles — that dynamically shift in response to movement in front of the TV.

This interactive artwork joins a growing collection of more than 2,000 free gallery-quality images available within the Ambient Experience. And, later this month, Amazon will add 100 new pieces of artwork, including new motion art as well as landscape, underwater, and NASA space photography.

The Omni Mini-LED series is the first model in the Fire TV lineup from Amazon that supports premium gaming features, like a 144Hz high-refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification. Coupled with a dedicated Gaming Mode that unlocks Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low Latency Mode, this flagship new flatscreen should eradicate visual artefacts and input lag for an improved gaming experience.

Fire TV Omni Mini-LED starts from £849.99 for the 55-inch TV, rising to £1,149.99 for the 65-inch, and maxing out at £1,599.99 for the 75-inch model. For a limited time, Amazon has slashed these prices to £649.99 for the 55-inch, £949.99 for the 65-inch, and £1,299.99 for the 75-inch model.

This sale is only available until December 2 and is so generous that Amazon is restricting sales to two Smart TVs maximum per person.
