The Sonos Arc Ultra arrived at the end of October and it introduced not only a new sound architecture compared to the Sonos Arc, but a slightly refreshed design and a couple of extra features. One of those features was a more advanced Speech Enhancement offering.
Speech Enhancement is a feature offered on all Sonos soundbars, including the Arc, Beam 2 and the Sonos Ray, but for the Arc Ultra, you can adjust the levels of the Speech Enhancement, rather than just being able to turn it on or off.
The problem is, that adjusting the levels isn’t all that simple. That’s where we are here to help though. If you wondering where you need to go in the Sonos app to adjust the Speech Enhancement level for the Sonos Arc Ultra, here are the steps you need to follow.

What you’ll need
- The Sonos Arc soundbar
- The Sonos app
- Your smartphone or tablet
The short version
- Open the Sonos app.
- Tap on the settings cog in the top right corner.
- Tap on the room your Arc Ultra is in.
- Scroll down to the Home Theater section of the settings.
- Tap on the Speech Enhancement option.
- Choose your level.
Turning on Speech Enhancement is nice and simple in the new Sonos app, and it’s the same process for all Sonos soundbars, with you simply expanding the Now Playing card at the bottom of the app and tapping the Speech Enhancement button on or off.
Changing the level is a little more complicated though. You would think you could just long press on that Speech Enhancement icon and choose between the three levels available, but alas, you cannot.
Instead you need to go into the System Settings of your Arc Ultra and adjust from there, which the step below guide you through. The default is medium for the Speech Enhancement level if you do nothing, but you have the option of Low and High too, as well as toggling on or off altogether.
That’s it! Whatever level you choose will be the level of Speech Enhancement you will get when you turn the feature on or off.
