Thousands of social media users were upset to learn John Krasinski beat out A-list actors Glen Powell and Pedro Pascal for People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’
In the wake of the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ announcement and a viral Vanity Fair photo of Powell, the ‘Twisters’ star started trending on X.
‘I like John Krasinski. I really do. Having said that, there were better options, People. Have you seen Glen Powell?,’ an X user wrote.
The social media platform blow-up began in the hours after Krasinski was announced as the new titleholder on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.’
Various X users didn’t hold anything back about how deserving they felt Powell was to earn this year’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ title.

‘I think Vegas had the odds set to -250 for Glen Powell and about +25000 for John Krasinski but okay,’ an X user wrote.
Another fan wrote on the platform: ‘I’m not denying he’s hot, but also….why him? It feels random. Glen Powell was right there and he’s a had a banner year. But knowing People it’ll be him in 2029,’
One person believed the actor ‘won the electoral vote but lost the electoral college’.
‘Def would’ve been better if it was Glen Powell since his had a pretty good year,’ another fan tweeted.
‘Am I mad? No. Am I wondering if Glen Powell turned it down? Also no because he definitely did,’ an X user wrote.
Despite Krasinski’s win, celebrity gossip account Deuxmoi wildly claimed that Powell was named this year’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive,’ but turned People Magazine down.
‘Yes, it should have been Glen Powell, but we do understand he needs to accept it, right? He turned it down, just like many do every year,’ an X user wrote.

Several X users were also astounded by Pascal being ‘snubbed again’ for the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ title.
One person wrote: ‘Pedro Pascal not the sexiest man alive? yeah this year sucks a**.’
‘In a world with Pedro Pascal they picked JIM HALPERT????!!!!!!?!! I’ve met men in a SE Michigan Meijer dairy aisle with more sex appeal this is it it’s over I’m packing it up just put me in a coma until the world is different,’ another X user wrote.
Others had predicted Pascal would win, but that Powell would’ve won ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ if the Gladiator II star didn’t.
‘Some interesting thoughts floating around the web on this saying People does not have its finger on the pulse when it come to the “man of the moment,”‘ an X user wrote.
‘John Krasinski’s name wasn’t even being floated– My guess was Pedro Pascal and a lot of people guessed Glen Powell.’

Although neither man won the main sexy title, People magazine named Powell a 2024 ‘Sexiest Summer Action Star’ after starring in ‘Anyone But You,’ ‘Hit Man’ and ‘Twisters.’
Pascall was dubbed ‘Dog Dad Pedro’ in People’s 2023’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ issue, which featured a 2018 photo of him and his pup Edgar.
Neither of these minor wins was enough to overtake Krasinski – a first-time ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’
The actor revealed the only stars who knew of the win before it was announced were Matt Damon, and his wife Emily Blunt.

Krasinski was shocked by his ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ win and didn’t imagine winning the sexy honor.
‘That’s not how I wake up, thinking, “Is this the day that I’ll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?” And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me,’ he told People for his cover story.
Besides Powell and Pascall, scores of social media users also thought Jonathan Bailey, Jeremy Allen White and Travis Kelce would be more deserving winners.
