Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard made a brutal comment to former teammate Jamie Carragher following Jurgen Klopp’s final match in charge.
The German bid farewell to the Reds faithful after nine successful years in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ visit to Anfield on Sunday. It was a winning end to Klopp’s spell in the Anfield dugout, becoming the first permanent manager since Matt McQueen in 1928 to win their final game in charge.

Among the teary-eyed reactions from captain Virgil van Dijk and vice skipper Trent Alexander-Arnold, there were plenty of messages from Reds players past and present. Jamie Carragher, who was in L4 for Sky Sports’ coverage of the match, posted on Instagram a picture of Klopp and the former defender sharing an embrace.
“Thanks for the memories @kloppo [red heart emoji],” was the caption from Carragher tagging Klopp’s new social media account.
While the post attracted messages of gratitude to the former Mainz and Borussia Dortmund manager, a comment from former captain Gerrard that sparked a reaction.

In what was an emotional send-off for the Champions League and Premier League-winning manager, Klopp addressed the sold-out Anfield crowd and offered a new chant for incoming successor Arne Slot. As the game drew to a close, Liverpool fans erupted into a never-ending rendition of Klopp’s chant adapted from Beatles classic ‘I Feel Fine’.
