Man (40s) arrested after fatal early-morning crash in Co Kildare

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Co Kildare this morning.

The crash took place in Robertstown, Kildare in the early hours of today, Sunday, November 10.

A 16-year-old boy was fatally injured after he was hit by a vehicle while walking on the R403 in Blackwood near Robertstown, at approximately 12.30am.

Gardaí say the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.

The arrested man is currently detained at a garda station in Kildare under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

A cordon is in place as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene and local traffic diversions remain in place.

Investigating gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision and are particularly appealing to those with camera footage, including dash-cam, from the Prosperous, Allenwood, Carbury, and Robertstown areas between 11.30pm and 3.30am on 10 November to come forward.
