Apple launched the new M4 MacBook Pro models recently, and the new chips pack enormous power, a significant reason why you should consider upgrading. However, there are not many visual differences compared to the M3 version, but it is not a bad thing, per se, as the all-screen design is still great compared to today’s standards. In a new video, YouTube channel Max Tech shared details on the battery of the M4 MacBook Pro, highlighting that it is 5 percent bigger in size, which the form factor and design have been kept the same.
Apple’s M4 MacBook Pro features a bigger cell, while the rest of the design is the same
If you are planning to upgrade to the latest M4 MacBook Pro models, the improved battery life is one of the major reasons. Apple has touted that the new M4 MacBook Pro models feature the best battery life on any MacBook model, which is better than the Air lineup. The company has taken different approaches to increase the overall battery life of the MacBook, and the bigger cell is part of it.
YouTube channel Max Tech states in his latest video that the M4 MacBook Pro features a 5 percent bigger battery life compared to the previous M3 version. A comparison was drawn between the base variant of the M4 MacBook Pro and its older counterpart, which had an M3 chip. To be precise, Vadim Yuryev notes that the battery capacity on the M4 MacBook Pro is listed as 72.6Wh, which, according to him, is about 5 percent bigger than the previous version.
Yuryev noted that this is possibly the only change the company has implemented on the inside, as the rest of the components are the same on the new and older models. The internal design and layout of the components are also the same, including the thermal solution, speakers, and more. The bigger battery cell contributed to an additional 2 hours of runtime on the M4-powered MacBook Pro, which was previously set at 22 hours for the M3 base variant.
It is amazing to see that the company utilized the internal space and fit a slightly bigger battery while keeping the overall design identical to the previous version. Apart from the bigger cell, the M4 chip’s lower power-hungry nature also contributed to the overall total of 24 hours of runtime. The M4 MacBook Pro features the best battery life of any model, as the M4 Max MacBook Pro features a slightly lower battery life, coming down to just 18 hours.
The difference in battery life is potentially due to the M4 Pro and M4 Max’s power consumption, while the level of efficiency of the chip remains the same. We will update you with more details on the new MacBook Pro, so be sure to stick around.
