Taylor Swift arrival to Grammy Awards ahead of historic night
Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” won album of the year. She announced a new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” earlier in the show.
Taylor Swift fans may have seen this film before, but they didn’t like the ending. The “Exile” singer’s record-breaking movie, “The Eras Tour,” wasn’t nominated in the “Best Music Film” category of the 2025 Grammys.
The two hour and 49 minute film fits the award’s parameters. The gold-plated gramophone goes to the artist, video director and video producer of a concert/performance film or music documentary. “The Eras Tour” film brought global fans into theaters by the bedazzled droves to dance and sing in the aisles.
Swift’s movie grossed more than $250 million worldwide, becoming the highest grossing concert film of all time. The singer made a deal with SAG-AFTRA amidst a highly contentious Hollywood strike. She bypassed production studios going straight to AMC as a distributor. The strategic move earned the billionaire a Golden Globe nomination in January in a brand-new “cinematic and box office achievement” category. Ultimately, “Barbie” came out on top.
When Grammy nominations were announced Friday morning these five films made the cut:
- Jon Batiste, “American Symphony”
- June Carter Cash, “June”
- Run DMC, “Kings From Queens”
- Steven Van Zandt, “Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple”
- “The Greatest Night in Pop”
Swift received recognition in six other categories. For “The Tortured Poets Department” album, she is up for “Album of the year” and “Best pop vocal album.” For her “Fortnight” single with Post Malone, she is competing for “Record of the year,” “Song of the year” and “Best music video.” And then her collaboration with Gracie Abrams on “Us.” is up for “Best pop duo / group performance.”
The Grammy Awards will take place Feb. 2 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. CBS will broadcast and Paramount+ will stream the awards.
