Spain hit by more rain days after hundreds killed in floods

Spain has been hit by new flooding that sent cars floating down the streets of CadaquƩs, a coastal town popular with tourists in the northeast Catalonia region.

It comes nine days after massive floods devastated areas of the southeast, particularly the Valencia region, claiming at least 219 lives.

The flooding at Cadaques, in Girona province, swept away some 30 vehicles that had been parked in the then dry gully that runs through the municipality in the Alt EmpordĆ  area.
