Prelude: The Remix will once again see players temporarily shirking their Battle Royale duties to collectively take part in a new activity or experience. In the past, players have been treated to a virtual concert starring a giant Travis Scott and banded together to destroy an alien mothership.
This time around, Epic Games is teasing a musical nostalgia-fest, which should serve as a precursor for the new season, rumoured to be Chapter 2: Remix.Â
Here’s everything you need to know about the looming updates, including the inevitable downtime that will render the game unplayable.
Fortnite live event start time: When does Remix: The Prelude begin?
Fortnite’s Remix: The Prelude live event starts on Friday, November 1 at 10.30 pm in the UK (3.30 pm PDT / 6.30 pm EDT).Â
Cue younger players begging their parents to let them stay up past their bedtimes – or sneaking their phones under the covers.
A countdown is currently ticking down to the festivities in the game’s lobby and in-game at Restored Reels on the Fortnite Island.
When will downtime begin?
Epic typically disables matchmaking for regular game modes ahead of a live event, with players allowed to join it around 30 minutes before the official start time.Â
In the case of Remix: The Prelude, that means you should be able to jump into the action at 6pm in the UK and start smashing those emotes with your fellow players.
More downtime usually follows after an event, with Epic taking the entire game offline for several hours so it can implement the new seasonal update.
When will Fortnite Chapter 2: Remix start?
Fortnite Chapter 2: Remix should then kick off in the early morning on Saturday, November 2.Â
Based on the start times of past seasons, we would expect it to commence at around 7am in the UK, though downtime for updates can vary.
While it has Chapter 2 in the title, the new season might not just focus on that era. As usual, the map may undergo changes, bringing back old locations such as Craggy Cliffs, Dirty Docks, and Frenzy Farm.
For its part, Epic has released a series of clips teasing the return of past characters including 8-Ball, TNTina, Midas Meowscles, female Guff and a new female Chaos Agent, which are likely to be in the Chapter 2 battle pass.Â
Elsewhere, Fortnite Festival could feature Snoop Dogg as its season 6 headliner. Epic, who could also pop up during the Prelude (or maybe it will be Marshmello, who hosted Fortnite’s first live event in 2019). Â
Epic has also revealed that Reload Solos are dropping at the same time as Fortnite Remix on November 2. As a result, players will finally be able to go it alone in the more compact competitive mode, starting with one extra respawn and picking up more with each elimination (with a max of three respawns).
