Strictly Come Dancing stars Wynne Evans and Katya Jones have teased that their upcoming routine will feature an element never seen on the show before.
The pair have made it to Week 7 of the competition, with the duo averaging just under 31 points across their previous dances as they have avoided the dance-off thus far.
Ahead of Icons Week on Saturday (November 2), the opera singer and professional dancer appeared opposite Janette Manrara on Thursday’s (October 31) episode of It Takes Two to discuss their next routine, which sees the pair perform the Rumba.

Discussing the dance, which will be performed to Shirley Bassey’s ‘This Is My Life’, Katya revealed that there will be a “Strictly first” in the routine, teasing viewers to look out for a “little surprise”.
“We love dancing to it. This routine is powerful and life-assuring. Also, there is a little surprise at the end – I believe it’s the first time [this has been done] on Strictly,” she said, with Wynne echoing the sentiments of his partner by adding that it was a “Strictly first”.
Whilst it remains to be seen what the surprise will be, Wynne – best known as the face of Go.Compare adverts – discussed the importance of the routine and song in general, revealing that he shared a special connection with the song.

“I’ve talked about my mental health and how I’ve struggled with it, and I find this song really empowering,” he shared. “It’s all about finding that self-resilience that you need in life, and to find that strength from within. I find it quite emotional.
“Every Rumba is so different – there’s a different story to each one. It can be about love or jealousy. But there’s so many different types of love. [Our] one is about starting to love yourself, which is something I’m only just discovering [after] learning from Katya.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
