Ashley Storrie wrote: “Janey is so honoured and I am so immensely proud of her. I am always proud of her.
“Congratulations Doctor Godley.”
Storrie, the writer and star of BBC comedy Dinosaur, recently shared the emotional moment when she told her mum she had been nominated for a Bafta Scotland award for the show.
Ms Godley, who found viral fame with her dubbed videos of Nicola Sturgeon’s Covid briefings during the pandemic, revealed she had ovarian cancer in November 2021.
She had planned to begin her Why Is She Still Here? tour but was forced to cancel the tour following doctors’ advice.
In 2023 she won the inaugural Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
A Glasgow University spokesperson said: “We are delighted to confirm Janey has been made an Honorary Graduate of the University.
“It is an honour to bestow an honorary doctorate on the incredible Dr Godley. We send all our love and support to Janey and her family.”
