Last night’s Strictly Come Dancing Halloween week results show (27th October) was missing one key member of the Strictly cast, as professional dancer Amy Dowden was unable to be part of the results show. And now, fans are wondering if Amy will be returning for this week’s show on Saturday 2nd November to dance with celebrity partner JB Gill.
Amy did not appear in last night’s episode as she was taken to hospital before the episode was filmed on Saturday night (26th October). An ambulance was called to the Strictly studio at Elstree as a precaution as Amy was feeling unwell, a spokesperson for the dancer told BBC News.
“Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution,” they explained. “She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy’s privacy in matters of health is kindly respected.”
Right now it’s not been confirmed if Amy will be returning for this week’s show “Icon’s Week”. Currently professional dancer Lauren Oakely, who did not have a celebrity partner for this year’s series, is standing in for Amy during rehearsals, the BBC has confirmed.
Amy, who joined Strictly in 2017, did not appear in last year’s series after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
In May 2023, the dancer was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer after finding a lump in her breast shortly before going on her honeymoon. After completing chemotherapy, she was then told in February this year to have “no evidence of disease” and she shared the good news on Instagram.
She said: “NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! Words I dreamed of! My biggest accomplishment yet! 🙏🎀🥹 I won’t be getting the all clear for 5 years especially with a hormone fed cancer. But it was all worth it. Words I never thought I’d hear at one point.”
She has since opened up about her cancer journey in a documentary Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me. Amy also has Crohn’s disease and has previously opened up on the toll it has taken on her.
While Amy has not commented on last weekend’s show, celebrity dance partner JB Gill took to Instagram last night to thanks fans for their continued support of himself and Amy.
“On behalf of both @amy_dowden and I, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for voting for us and wishing us well. We absolutely loved our performance on Saturday night and are SO grateful to be through to another week on @bbcstrictly Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support 🙏🏾🪩✨,” he wrote in a post.
We’re sending all our best wishes to Amy and hope to see her back on the dancefloor when she’s feeling better.
