Ukraine wiped out an ethanol plant in Voronezh after launching a devastating drone blitz on Russia on Sunday evening.
Kyiv’s army has continually targeted fuel depots and ammunition warehouses deep inside Russian territory as it seeks to disrupt supplies to Vladimir Putin’s war machine.
The strikes have sown havoc and chaos in Russia‘s rear, inflicting substantial damage to key military infrastructure.
On Sunday, Ukrainian UAVS targeted for the second time an Ethanol Spirit Distillery in the village of Krasnoye in the Novokhopersky district.
The drones scored a direct hit, causing a massive fire at the plant.
Video images of the spectacular explosions and subsequent fire were captured by local residents and posted to social media channels.
In one clip, a drone can be heard approaching its target before an explosion is heard and a massive ball of flames erupts into the night sky.
A lethal fire also broke out at the Anninsky distillery – some 50 kilometres from Krasnoye.
The facility is located next door to the Annanefteprodukt oil depot. Two workers were injured in the fire, according to the regional governor Alexander Gusev.
He added: “Preliminary reports indicate the fire affected a building and one storage tank.
“There is also preliminary information on damage to two residential buildings and an auxiliary structure.”
Over the past week, Ukrainian drones have also struck distilleries in the Tula region, just south of Moscow.
The Russians are using alcohol distilleries to make aviation and rocket fuel, according to Andriy Kovalenko, the head of Ukraine‘s Centre for Countering Disinformation.
Russia‘s Ministry of Defence claimed that seven Ukrainian drones were shot down over the Voronezh region during the course of the night.
It comes as Ukraine‘s President Volodymyr Zelesnky called on Western allies to provide more air defences for his country.
He said that over the course of the past week, Russia had carried out more than 1,100 attacks with glide bombs and over 560 with drones.
