Arrowhead may have accidentally turned one of the strongest stratagems in Helldivers 2 into a death trap for players. In the latest update for Arrowhead’s popular multiplayer action game, the Tesla Tower has turned hostile against players, stunlocking and even killing countless players.

Helldivers 2 Tesla Towers aren’t your friends

Previously known as one of the best stratagems in the game, the Tesla Tower is a powerful, stationary version of the Arc Thrower. This stratagem can be placed to automatically zap a nearby enemies with volts of electricity, and it’s especially handy against the Automatons.

However, as players currently flee away from The Jet Brigade, many have noticed there’s something wrong with the Tesla Towers in Helldivers 2. Following the latest patch, the stratagem now stunlocks players, zapping them until their health is fully depleted if they get too close.

Players have complained about the new bugged Tesla Towers with some even wearing Arc Resistant armour and still being decimated by the stratagem. Players have even called for an option to stop the game from forcing players to stand back up after being hit in retaliation, allowing them to properly plan their next actions.

Arrowhead is aware

Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has already responded to the bugged Tesla Tower stratagem in the multiplayer game, and the issue should be fixed in the near future. While we don’t know what is causing the issue, the game’s developers are already working on a patch that will address the murderous weapon.

“Already being looked at,” an Arrowhead employee told fans on the game’s subreddit. However, no other details were shared.

Judging from previous bugs in Helldivers 2, the overactive Tesla Towers will likely be turned into a new bit of lore for the game’s satire-filled universe. Poorly calibrated weapons or a rogue, bot-loving engineer will likely be placed at the blame for the bloodthirsty stratagem in an upcoming dispatch for the game.
