Bournemouth cliff slip hits beach huts for second time in a month

Must read

A landslide has damaged several beach huts at a tourist spot for the second time in a month.

The cliff slip happened at 09:45 BST near Durley Chine in Bournemouth, the local council confirmed.

Richard Herrett, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s lead on leisure, said it was the same area where the cliff fell onto huts on 10 October.

He said that a wider section had been cordoned off for public safety and that the site was inspected by the council’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management team.

Mr Herrett said that it had been caused by “further heavy rainfall”.

“We are informing the licensees of the beach huts and will provide updates once a further assessment has been carried out,” he added.
