Emmerdale star Alexander Lincoln has reportedly landed a huge new Hollywood role alongside Mean Girls actor Jonathan Bennett.

The actor, 30, portrayed vet Jamie Tate in the ITV soap before the character disappeared from village life in 2021 after faking his death.

But after waving goodbye to the Dales for good, Alexander has since turned his sights to cracking the US and has landed a part in a brand new movie series by Hallmark.

Alexander will play the love interest of Jonathan’s character – known for his role as Aaron Samuels in 2004’s Mean Girls – in The Groomsmen trilogy.

And it appears that Alexander could be on the path to huge success as The Sun reports that he’s set to ‘become the biggest British soap star in America.’

A source told the publication: ‘It’s a huge role for Alex and will open his career up to bigger opportunities in Hollywood.

‘It’s a really smart move after doing Emmerdale and a lot of indie movies. It’s going to put his name on the lips of casting directors in America for sure.’

MailOnline have contacted a representative of Alexander for comment.

The films will focus on the male perspective in the run-up to the wedding of three pals – who all act as each others’ groomsmen.

Tyler Hynes and B.J. Britt will appear in the movies alongside Jonathan and Alexander, with the premiere date as yet unknown.

It’s reported that the second film, named The Groomsmen Second Chances will see Jonathan’s character admit his true feelings for his best pal – played by Alexander, according to Girls Gone Hallmark.

Jonathan recently opened up to People magazine about the films, remarking: ‘That is the first time we’ve had a gay wedding on Hallmark as the lead storyline.

‘And that’s a huge move for the gay community so they can see themselves represented in these stories.’

Even though Emmerdale was his first soap opera gig, Alexander is a seasoned actor.

In 2018 he landed a role in a comedy movie Degenerates where he acted alongside former Eastenders veterans Annette Badland and Jamie Foreman.

He has also been involved in independent films like Wander, Sun in the Night, and Recall.

His big break comes just after the news that fellow Emmerdale actor Emile John has landed a new role on a rival soap after taking a ‘risk’ and quitting the soap after three years.

The actor’s character Ethan Anderson was dramatically killed off after dying of an undiagnosed brain aneurysm in his father Vicar Charles Anderson’s cottage.

And now he is venturing onto the BBC medical series drama Casualty after bagging himself a guest role.

A source told The Sun: ‘Emile took a risk quitting Emmerdale but he wanted to spread his wings and it looks like he’s made the right decision.

‘Being on Casualty is a right of passage for many actors and he really enjoyed his stint on the show.’
