Katya Jones sets record straight on BBC Strictly clip with Wynne Evans as she insists ‘You’ve got it wrong!’

Must read

Katya Jones and Wynne Evans sent social media into meltdown on Saturday night after it appeared the two weren’t getting on.

It came as viewers spotted Jones rejecting a high-five from Evans on the live BBC show and later removing his hand from her waist, causing some to speculate the dancer was uncomfortable with the opera singer.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted Jones, 35, rejecting Evans, 52, with the moment, which was caught on camera in the background of Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin’s samba results, sparking a lot of online speculation.

On Monday, Evans himself has addressed the moment, arguing he hasn’t “done anything”.

The couple appeared on Monday’s It Takes Two, with Jones evidently very keen to put to bed any rumours and speculation.

Host of Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two Fleur East welcomed the pair, commenting: “Saturday was amazing! How was it for you?”

“It was, but sorry Fleur, sorry – I will get onto dancing I promise,” Jones began. “But can I please first get something out of the way that I feel like has overshadowed our performance for absolutely no reason?

“And quite frankly, I actually can’t bear sitting here watching this man being portrayed as someone he’s not.”

The dancer continued: “In fact, it couldn’t be further away from the truth, so I have to make this absolutely clear that this whole incident with the hand and the high-five on Saturday night… It was an inside joke between Wynne and I.

“Was it a silly joke? Yes. Was it a bad joke? Yes…” Evans then cut in to explain something further.

“Yeah, and I’ve watched it back and I can see how people may have misinterpreted it,” he shared.

Jones went on: “Yeah, but however – it was a joke. And even the idea that he made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is total nonsense.

“And those that have doubts, you guys have got it wrong. So hopefully this will be the end of it.” Turning to Evans, she pleased: “And you just keep making me smile, please!”

It comes after a social media storm implying Evans had been making Jones feel uneasy had spiralled.
