Jackmaster dies aged 38

Jackmaster has died.

News of the Scottish DJ born Jack Revill’s passing was confirmed in a statement shared by his family today, Saturday 12th October. It read: “It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster. Jack tragically died in Ibiza on the morning of 12th October, following complications arising from an accidental head injury.

“His family-Kate, Sean, and Johnny — are utterly heartbroken. While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues, and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss.

“Jack’s passion for music and his relentless drive to push creative boundaries through his work at the Numbers label and Rubadub Records in Glasgow, including discovering countless innovative artists, made him a beloved and pioneering figure in the electronic music community both in front of and behind the scenes. His talent for blending genres and delivering electrifying DJs sets and productions earned him the respect and admiration of peers and fans across the globe. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his impact on the world of dance music will remain indelible.”

The Glasgow DJ born had played at Hï Ibiza on 21st September for Black Coffee and Damian Lazarus’ residency.

Revill rose to prominence in the Glasgow club scene in the mid 2000s, having started working at the Rubadub Records store at the age of 14 and going onto land a residency at the Monox club at 17. Globally renowned for his high-energy club sets, he went on to win the Breakthrough DJ Award at DJ Mag’s Best Of British Awards in 2010, and Best DJ in 2014. He featured on the cover of the magazine in 2017.

He co-founded the Numbers label in 2010, releasing early works by artists including Jamie xx, Rustie, Randomer and SOPHIE.

In recent years, Jackmaster returned to touring and releasing music, playing across Europe, the UK and North America this summer.
