Scientists solve mystery of Christopher Columbus’s resting place

Must read

One of history’s greatest mysteries will soon be solved by a study that aims to pinpoint Christopher Columbus’s origins through DNA analysis.

Spanish scientists have said that they will reveal the nationality of the 15th-century explorer in a documentary to be broadcast on state television on Saturday, the national day of Spain.

Countries have debated over the origins and the final resting place of the figure whose expeditions, funded by Spain, from the 1490s opened the way for the European conquest of the Americas.

Many historians had questioned the traditional theory that Columbus came from Genoa, Italy. Other theories are that he was a Spanish Jew, Greek, Basque or Portuguese.

However, scientists have revealed their answer over the question of where his remains are buried.
