AirPods Pro crash to record-low price on Amazon today, and there’s nothing Argos or Currys can do to compete

Must read

You can pocket a pair of AirPods Pro for just £179 on Amazon — that’s a record low for these second-generation noise-cancelling ‘buds, which launched in September last year. The latest AirPods deal represents a generous £50 saving on the regular price and a £10 discount on the previous record price drop.

But you’ll need to be quick.

The discount on AirPods Pro is only available until 11.59pm tonight (October 9) when Prime Big Deal Days sale. As the name suggests, these site-wide discounts are only accessible to those with an active Prime membership, or those with a 30-day free trial under their belts. Cancel anytime and you won’t be charged, but you’ll still be able to unlock the exclusive deals, enjoy next-day delivery at no cost, and stream from Prime Video.

Snag Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) for record low

An impressive £50 saving on the price tag you’ll find for these popular ‘buds in your nearest Apple Store and an extra £10 off compared to the previous record, there’s no cheaper deal on AirPods around today. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading to these Bluetooth earbuds, which can double-up as hearing aids, offer active noise-cancellation, and can be used for handsfree phone calls — don’t miss out

AirPods Pro with USB-C

To put the Amazon discount into perspective, Argos and Currys are both currently charging £229 for the AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) — that’s the RRP that you’ll find in the Apple Store.

The latter offers free laser engraving with a personal message, Memoji, or emoji characters — something that you can’t get anywhere else.

AirPods Pro are Apple’s flagship wireless earbuds. These models boast Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that’s twice as powerful as the first-generation models to effectively block out unwanted background noise, like the rumble of an aeroplane engine, the chug of the train tracks on your commute, or whirrrrr of the office printer behind your desk. When you do need to let some of the outside in, AirPods Pro include Transparency mode that lets your surroundings cut-through the audio, while Adaptive Audio is an intelligent blend of both of these modes.

Apple says you can expect six-hours of music playback with ANC switched on. The carry case will recharged the earbuds, adding up to 30-hours of listening time in total. With the second-generation AirPods Pro, Apple added small speaker to the case, so that it can now emit a sound to help you find it when it’s been misplaced. Both earbuds and the carry case can all be tracked individually via GPS in the Find My app preinstalled on all iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

With the second-generation model of the AirPods Pro, Apple added a lanyard loop and tweaked the case so that it;s sweat- and water-resistant — just like the Bluetooth earbuds themselves.

With the recent introduction of iOS 18, Apple added new capabilities to these flagship earbuds, including Conversation Awareness, which automatically lowers volume when you’re speaking to someone nearby. Apple will also enable more functionality in the coming weeks, which will enable these ‘buds to become medical-grade hearing aids.

The earbuds also support Spatial Audio for a more immersive sound experience and now come with a USB-C charging port, so you can use the same cable for your iPhone, iPad, Kindle, Nintendo Switch, MacBook Pro, and Android devices when away from home.

Prime Big Deal Days is the second of two exclusive sale events held by Amazon each year for its Prime members, offering significant discounts on a wide range of products.

To access these deals, you’ll need an Amazon Prime membership, which costs £8.99 per month or £95 annually in the UK. However, if you’re not already a member, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial to take advantage of the sale. This event is similar to the more well-known Prime Day, but occurs in October rather than July. It’s a chance for Prime subscribers to get early access to holiday season bargains, with discounts on everything from tech gadgets to household items.

While the AirPods Pro 2 offer exceptional value at this price point, they’re not the only earbuds on sale during Prime Day. Amazon has also discounted other popular models, such as the Nothing Ear (a) for £69.99 and the Google Pixel Buds Pro for £99. However, the AirPods Pro 2 remain a top choice for their seamless integration with Apple devices and advanced features.
