The IDF‘s Golani Brigade has taken operational control of a Hezbollah combat compound in Maroun El Ras, southern Lebanon, which posed a direct threat to northern Israeli communities, the IDF announced on Tuesday.

The compound, discovered during targeted operations, overlooked border areas in northern Israel.

The Hezbollah compound included a residential building and an olive grove, where a launcher, fully loaded and aimed at northern communities, was found.

Additional discoveries in the compound included underground infrastructure, hideouts, and living quarters used by Hezbollah terrorists. Inside the residential building, IDF forces uncovered a staging area and a significant stockpile of weapons, including guns, anti-tank missiles, camouflage nets, and military vests, as well as launchers hidden in the kitchen.

The IDF also reported the destruction of weapons prepared for ambushes targeting both northern residents and IDF soldiers, successfully neutralizing the threat posed by the compound.

The announcement came after Hezbollah launched multiple barrages at Haifa and the surrounding areas within Israel. One barrage contained about 85 rockets, while the second was made up of around 25, according to the IDF.

Earlier on Tuesday, the IDF announced that it expanded its ground operation force in Lebanon by including the 146th Division, which conducted operations in Lebanon’s Southwest.

The 146th Division is also the first reserves division to enter Lebanon since the beginning of the IDFs ground entrance.
