Feeling flush? Three-bedroom home in leafy west London on market for nearly £600k… but there’s a unique feature that might make you think twice

Must read

You’ve heard of a room with a view but for just under £600,000 you can have your own room with a loo.

When a three-bedroom property in leafy Wimbledon debuted on real estate site Rightmove this week, for all intents and purposes it looked like the perfect family home.

The £575,000 detached property in south west London comes complete with three generous sized bedrooms as well as a spacious open plan living room with plenty of natural light.

However, for all its charm, one feature of the home has turned a few heads – a bedroom with an open-plan toilet.

Referred to ignominiously as ‘bedroom one’, the spacious nook has plenty of space for a double bed and desk before the carpet peters out to reveal its hidden porcelain quarry.

Or perhaps not so hidden, as the bath, sink and toilet are not separated from the rest of the room by a wall so are fully in the open for all to see (and presumably smell).

The property, which is being advertised by Savills, is described as a ‘A three bedroom detached house, benefitting from a rear yard, in need of modernisation.’

The en-suite is not mentioned on the listing.

Flagging the house on social media, one user scoffed: ‘Can we talk about Bedroom 1 on the floorplan?’

Spotting the monster in the room, another expressed their incredulity, saying: ‘You could do a puppet show for the person in bed whilst sitting on the toilet.’

Another laughed: ‘Imagine having to pay well over half a million for that.’

‘What, you mean you don’t want your entire bedroom to be moist at all times?’. questioned another.

Earlier this week, eagled eyed browsers spotted something entirely different on another Rightmove listing.

But, while the Purplebricks listing includes 13 unremarkable photographs of the property, picture 14 displays disturbing graffiti sprayed across the front of the house.

Written in blue spray paint on the front walls and door frame – the words ‘paedo’ and ‘nonce’ can be spotted on what was once the former home of a convicted sex offender.

Described as being a ‘delightful’ three-bedroom property ‘nestled in a popular and convenient location’, this listing seems to be an ideal purchase for a prospective buyer.

Located in Heol Cadifor, Swansea, Wales, the semi-detached home was put on sale by Purplebricks Estate Agents for £125,000 and advertised on Rightmove yesterday.

The property description boasts how it is offered with no chain, meaning buyers can ‘seize the opportunity to secure your dream home’.

Far from being a ‘cozy retreat for relaxation or gatherings’, this home used to harbour vile paedophile Tommy Allington who was jailed for 24 years after admitting filming himself sexually abusing a baby and sharing the images with other paedophiles.

Swansea Crown Court heard how the 25-year-old primary school assistant subjected an infant to a sustained campaign of sexual abuse, assaulting and raping the child.

The horrendous ordeal only came to light after police received intelligence of indecent images on Instagram and found a secret phone hidden in the attic of his house. Allington had downloaded more than 1,500 images of children being sexually abused.
