McLaren unveil Red Bull rival with ultimate moveable rear wing

Must read

McLaren and rear wings have been something of a hot topic in recent weeks over its F1 device in Azerbaijan.

The flexing of the wing under load on the main straight caught the attention of rival teams, with the flexing leading to questions being asked – and the FIA getting involved.

That wing hasn’t been used since – but it was not meant to be with a planned next appearance in Las Vegas, but McLaren has made changes out of goodwill.

One place it hasn’t cut any corners however is in the design of its new hypercar – the McLaren W1.

Deemed a successor to the F1 and the P1, the W1 will set you back around £2 million GBP, with the V8 machine pumping out 1275bhp, weighing just 1399 kilograms.

In just 5.8s, it will get you up to 200kph – 124mph.

It is a rival to Aston Martin’s Valkyrie and Red Bull’s own RB17 hypercars.
